Japan's Drum Tao bring their taiko drumming, martial-arts athleticism and cinematic staging to Her Majesty's Theatre — a thunderous night of percussion for all ages.
Drum Tao have taken Japanese taiko — drums with roots centuries deep — and built a modern stage spectacle around them. Their performers combine the raw physical power of taiko with martial-arts discipline, tight choreography and lighting and staging that feel closer to film than to a traditional concert.
The company has now performed to more than 10 million people around the world, and returns to Australia with what it describes as its most ambitious production yet. Expect drumming you feel in your chest as much as hear.
With no language barrier and plenty of spectacle, it is a show that works as well for children as for adults.
