Lincoln Elliott unveils Artefact (or, Repatriation: The Musical) at Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2026 — a heist-erical emo-rock work-in-progress about five friends breaking into the British Museum to steal stuff back.
Five overqualified, underprepared friends set out on one ambitious mission: break into the British Museum and steal stuff back. Expect montage sequences, kazoos, lasers, the British Monarchy, a surprisingly tasteful recorder solo, and a live band driving the whole glorious heist forward.
This is a development showing of a brand-new Australian musical, tackling the big questions facing museums around the world about decolonisation, ownership and who gets to tell whose story — all with a wink, a riff and a very loud finale.
