The Heartbreak Choir
About This Event
Aidan Fennessy's The Heartbreak Choir — the bittersweet Australian play about a country town choir holding itself together — runs Nov-Dec at Dunstan Playhouse.
From acclaimed playwright Aidan Fennessy comes The Heartbreak Choir — a tender, funny and bittersweet Australian play about a country town choir holding itself together when the world falls apart.
In a small church hall, a misfit choir gathers each week to sing. When their conductor disappears under a cloud of scandal, the choir must decide whether to keep going — and what they really mean to each other.
By turns heartbreaking and hilarious, this is a celebration of community, friendship, and the redemptive power of singing together.
Season: Fri 20 Nov – Sat 5 Dec 2026 at Dunstan Playhouse, Adelaide Festival Centre. Tuesday–Saturday performances plus selected matinees and an 11am Wednesday accessibility show on 2 Dec.
Presented by State Theatre Company South Australia.
