Ursula Yovich
About This Event
Powerhouse First Nations vocalist Ursula Yovich brings her acclaimed tribute show Sings Nina Simone to the Banquet Room at Adelaide Festival Centre on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June 2026 — a soul-stirring journey through the High Priestess of Soul's songbook.
Helpmann Award-winning singer and actor Ursula Yovich steps into the spotlight with Sings Nina Simone, a stunning tribute to one of the greatest voices — and most fearless spirits — of the twentieth century.
Across two intimate nights in the Banquet Room at Adelaide Festival Centre, Yovich channels Nina Simone's extraordinary catalogue, from the smoky civil rights protest of Mississippi Goddam and the yearning I Put a Spell on You to the defiant Four Women, the uplifting Feeling Good and the tender Ne Me Quitte Pas.
Backed by a hand-picked band, Yovich's richly textured voice and storytelling prowess — honed across productions including The Sapphires, Barbara and the Camp Dogs and Miss Peony — shine a deeply personal light on Simone's artistry and activism. It's a salute from one trailblazing First Nations artist to a global icon, delivered with grit, grace and a whole lot of heart.
