Natalie Gamsu
About This Event
Natalie Gamsu storytells and sings through a life of "tsuris" — a Cabaret Festival work born from her Apartheid-era African upbringing, performed at Space Theatre.
Upon deciding she led a past life as a flamenco dancer, Natalie Gamsu was inspired to create A Voice Like Shrapnel — a work of storytelling and song born from her upbringing in Apartheid-era Africa.
She makes sense of the senseless through ridiculous and heartbreaking personal tales of tsuris (Yiddish for pain), interwoven with poetic, haunting vocals.
Don't miss this celebration of Gamsu's strange, beautiful and fearless capacity to expose her eccentricities and uncanny life experiences.
"Her storytelling style is captivating. Her singing is powerful. And her collection of stories kept the audience laughing or awed or shocked […] it left me wanting more." — Theatre First
