About This Event

Adelaide Writers' Week 2026 kicked off with The AWW Great Debate at Her Majesty's Theatre on 27 February, with captains Annabel Crabb and David Marr leading teams including Kathy Lette, Ian Dunt, Toby Schmitz and Amy Remeikis to debate "You can never be too rich."

The AWW Great Debate, presented by The Australian Women's Weekly, opened Adelaide Writers' Week 2026 with a night of sharp wit, serious argument and outrageous one-liners at Her Majesty's Theatre.

Captains Annabel Crabb and David Marr each assembled a powerhouse team of writers, journalists and performers to tackle the proposition: "You can never be too rich." Joining them on stage were novelist Kathy Lette, British political commentator Ian Dunt, actor Toby Schmitz and journalist Amy Remeikis, with adjudicator John Wells refereeing the flying rhetoric.
